Leipzig, 4.9.2019:  Trade fairs in New York and Paris and now also Leipzig
accepted to present the artwork of the Leipzig artist Michael Mutschler. The 72-year-old artist's figurative, often expressive works of art seek an aesthetic examination of the political and social present. The focus is on the challenges of new individuality, the male gaze, relationship dynamics, and the major issues of the time from climate crisis to migration.

"Art can express what lies beyond concepts and I can see from the response to my works, especially in recent times, that we humans live a life beyond the order that we can still understand", says painter and sculptor Michael Mutschler. "The catalyst art is therefore more important than ever," means the former art teacher from Schwäbisch Hall, who studied at the Kunstakademie Stuttgart at the beginning of the 1970s and was essentially concerned with the social concept of art.

Social psychograms show the successes of the last weeks and months:

• 
  With a unanimous vote, the jury of the "Kunstmesse Leipzig" accepted Mutschler as exhibiting artist. From 1 to 3 November Mutschler's works are on display to regional and international visitors. The programme is currently being prepared.
• From September 5, two of his works ("Höchste Lust", 2018, acrylic on canvas, framed, 100*70 cm, and "Herumgereichte, 2017, acrylic on canvas, framed, 50*70 cm) can now be seen at the New York Art Gallery.
• From 18th to 20th October there is a work ("Am I a beautiful?", 2016, 70*50 cm, high frame) at the Art Fair du Louvre in Paris. (Gallery: Galerie Beauté Du Matin Calme)
• In February 2020, there will be another Group exhibition with some of Mutschler's works in Cologne.

A solo exhibition is planned for 2020 in Paris and a catalogue of works. His oeuvre currently comprises about 500 works (paintings, drawings, sculptures and sculptures).

       
The artist Mutschler, who has been artistically active for 50 years and who considers artistic education to be essential (Joseph Beuys), also teaches ceramics at the Kurt-Masur-Grundschule in Leipzig, the Keramikwerkstatt Machern and Schweizerhaus Püchau.
